one of the many ways that life has changed since miss millie entered the world. a little less glamorous of a trip than we've taken in the past, but really wonderful nonetheless.

we spent a few days at the cottage, soaking in some peace and quiet... and enjoying some lovely company too!

olivia came for a visit (she brought her mom & dad too!).

no one loves south haven more than these two (the big guy in particular). he would swim and play in the water all day long if we'd let him. bako frantically runs up and down the shoreline, making sure that jake doesn't get too far away from us.

bako has gotten much braver about getting in the water, but hasn't quite perfected his dog paddle just yet...

we found jake a floating frisbee at the pet store in town with a lifetime guarantee. he immediately made it his mission to try and destroy it. so far, it's still in one piece.

i love the quiet. the dogs love the beach. jason loves sherman dairies...

this was her first taste of south haven's finest treat.

sneak peak

we had a photographer come over yesterday to shoot some pictures of millie.  jason thinks that it's a little bit ridiculous since i already have about a million pictures of her that i've taken myself. i tried to explain the difference between my snapshots and the experts working their magic...  he's not exactly convinced yet (although he might change his mind after seeing the pictures from yesterday!).

i'm lucky enough to have a professional photographer in the family... unfortunately, she lives in michigan! so i found somebody here in the city to help us capture some of miss millie on film. she was pretty true to form... lots of serious looks and wide-eyed stares. a few smiles thrown in too...

miss independent

despite only having two little teeth in her mouth, millie is eating all kinds of food by herself. she's learned to use her little thumb and finger to pick up what she wants to put in her mouth. it's a pretty sloppy process, but she gets more successful with every try. we still haven't found a food that she doesn't like...

(somebody said that it looks like she's eating rabbit poop... black beans!)

she's starting to use a sippy, though she'd much rather drink from a regular glass. mostly she just bites on the rubber spout. i have a feeling that if the cup was full of sweet juice instead of plain old water, it would be a different story!
